Paul W. Horn Elementary
A Magnet Academy

In June 2010, construction started on the new school building for Horn Academy. The new school building, designed by English + Associates Architects, was built on the field behind the old school. On the last day of the 2010-2011 school year, all the boxes were moved to the new building in preparation for the demolition of the old school buildings. In August 2011 faculty and staff were able to move into the new building for the start of the 2011-2012 school year. Drymalla Construction company finished the building so that we could start the new school year in the new school! Horn PTO help to raise funds to upgrade the playgrounds and fencing.

Horn Academy is Texas Education Agency (TEA) Exemplary School and a Houston Independent School District Exemplary School. It is a total school magnet for art, communications, computers, life sports, and science. All students participate in classes in music and library. Qualified students also can participate in Neighborhood Vanguard (gifted/talented) instruction.

School hours for students are 7:45 AM to 2:45 PM. Visit our site for more information and directions to our school. We are located inside Loop 610 between Bellaire Blvd. and Beechnut, Ave. B and Newcastle.

See the TEA School Report Card. For information about the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) please see this website.

Our weekly Horn Notes lets parents and students know what is happening at Horn. We post the issues on the web as well as send home a print copy in the Tuesday Red Folder.
